"We are all connected,in the great Circle of Life"

The Lion King is the most representative of a series of Disney pictures based on the Animal World: The Aristocats, Dumbo, Bambi etc. without mentioning the ones depicting the meeting of Human and Animal Worlds such as Tarzan or the Jungle Book.

The Lion King is Mufasa who rules over the African Pride Land, father of little Simba, destined to inherit the Throne. The Film goes through the initiation of the young lion to life, through a highly symbolical explanation around The Circle of Life (and Death),- also the title of the epic opening song by Elton Jhon- a lesson that Simba seems to forget as soon as Mufasa dies at the hands of his own jealous brother Scar. He runs away from his Land, and is raised by Timon and Pumba according to their motto "Hakuna Matata" while the Pride Land is decading under Scar's tyrannical control. Eventually Nala, his best friend ( and something more) finds and convinces him, with the help of wise Rafiki, to go back to his duties of King, after avenging his father's death.

Graphic as well as spiritual humanization of animal characters, who talk, feel, love and even sing. Impossible not to notice the meticulous study on African religion, iconography and landscape which gifted this picture with a highly moving and magniloquent aesthetic.
